CENTER POLICIES TO BENEFIT THE CHILDREN

SPECIAL PROGRAMS & TRIPS

Lil Nana’s is involved with the community they reside. The Center will educate Pre K students and older about the community. During the schoolyear the Pre K class will attend field trips to local businesses to learn about them.

During Fire Prevention week the Wahoo Fire Department lets the Center explore a fire truck - the rescue squad and Smokey the Bear educates the class about fire prevention.

In October the Center collects used winter wear for children in need of warm and appropriate winter clothing. The Coats for Kids Campaign has been in effect since 2000. The children help by bringing in their own used, out grown coats and outer war to donate to other children. They also inform neighbors and their churches to support this worth while campaign.

We visit the elderly on a monthly scheduled visit. The Pre K class sings and entertains our "grandpas and grandmas" at all the local nursing homes and care centers. This program benefits children as well as the elders of our community.

During the week of the Young Child we participate in a Mini March for Cystic Fibrosis. The Center is educated about the children are afflicted with childhood diseases. We ask for pledges and learn about bike safety during this week. It is a great way to teach children that their healthy lives can improve the lives of others by being safe on their bikes and making money for Cystic Fibrosis.

Field trips to a pumpkin patch and an apple orchard, the local mueum, and the City Parks are also a great source of education for our Pre K classes.

One day a week a program that teaches beginning tap and jazz dance is offered to students.

Dance...Dance...Dance.. is a program at Lil Nana's to improve self esteem, balance, rhythm, fitness and coordination to students.

The dance coordinator comes to the Center every week and instructs children ages 2 1/2 to 8 years of age. The program starts in September and ends in December after a performance for parents. Students will continue learning routines and in May commence with the Pre K class graduation ceremony.

Dance....Dance...Dance... is an elective program and does have additional fees.

During the summer months the school age children have the opportunity to visit local businesses for educational reasons. We tour fast food places and learn how thing are made. We tour the meat market and see the differences in how foods are prepared. We also take special trips to the local pool and spend quality time at parks having picnics.

Each actiivity is designed as a learning experience for your son or daughter. You will receive notice of all field trips and encouraged to chaperone when possible.

Please visit with the Director or your teach for more information.
